Chapters Pinecrest YA Book Club!

Hi all!

So I announced last week that I was hoping to start up a YA book club at my work and I'm happy to confirm it's happening! I have got lots of details for you, so here they are!

The Chapters Pinecrest YA Book Club (Awesome, for short)
When: Wednesday, March 27th
Where: Chapters Pinecrest, 2735 Iris Street, Ottawa
Time: 7:30pm
Who: Why, you awesome people, of course! There will be a SIGN-UP SHEET with a limit of 15 people though (due to the space constraint)! But, if there's lots of interest, there is a possibility we can have it moved in the future to accommodate more people.
What: Well, what book are we reading? We will be reading....The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepard

MARCH PICK: The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepard

In the darkest places, even love is deadly.

Sixteen-year-old Juliet Moreau has built a life for herself in London—working as a maid, attending church on Sundays, and trying not to think about the scandal that ruined her life. After all, no one ever proved the rumors about her father's gruesome experiments. But when she learns he is alive and continuing his work on a remote tropical island, she is determined to find out if the accusations are true.

Accompanied by her father's handsome young assistant, Montgomery, and an enigmatic castaway, Edward—both of whom she is deeply drawn to—Juliet travels to the island, only to discover the depths of her father's madness: He has experimented on animals so that they resemble, speak, and behave as humans. And worse, one of the creatures has turned violent and is killing the island's inhabitants. Torn between horror and scientific curiosity, Juliet knows she must end her father's dangerous experiments and escape her jungle prison before it's too late. Yet as the island falls into chaos, she discovers the extent of her father's genius—and madness—in her own blood.

Inspired by H. G. Wells's classic The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Madman's Daughter is a dark and breathless Gothic thriller about the secrets we'll do anything to know and the truths we'll go to any lengths to protect.

YAY! I hope you guys are as excited as I am. There will be a sign-up sheet located at the store. Just stop by and ask for me (or say "The girl with the blue hair" they'll know who you're talking about) or Jane and mention the YA book club! Pick up a copy of the book while you're here! AND what you epic people can do (if you're bloggers like me) is post about the book club on your blog! We want to spread the word as much as possible, so if you can do that I will send you a giant virtual hug! (And maybe bring candy to the meet-up, cause yum)

So, get reading and be ready for lots of crazy fun and book talk! If you have any questions feel free to email me at bookslostatmidnight@gmail.com.
